One of the customers of Hertz Rental Car gave a review, "Even as a "gold member," what a terrible experience I had with Hertz over the holiday weekend. The representatives were terrible, refused to honour my reservation (made through a live representative), then refused to allow me to speak with a supervisor. I have no plans to make a "reservation" with Hertz because they do not honor them."

Former Employee - Assistant Branch Rental Manager says

"I worked at Hertz full-time for less than a year Cons: renting from others to cover equipment your mechanics can't fix. Trying to cover other equipment rental company names with Hertz stickers. All the hours, and Guff you can take, from upper Mgmt, and ticked off customers, because you don't have the equipment, that upper Mgmt told you to tell them you did have."

Rental Sales Agent says

"I worked at Hertz Cons: Never have car! Never have car! No standards, no training, no organization work work work with no room for advancement. Your work 40 plus hours but NEVER make any Commission!!!!!. Oh did I mention they never have cars!!!! How can you run a business if you don't have the product?"

Former Employee - Rental Sales Agent says

"I worked at Hertz full-time for more than 5 years Cons: The base salary is ridiculously low in an effort to further motivate the sales of insurance options to protect the rental. The percentage of what you earn is the equivalent of giving small amounts of water to employees working in a desert to ensure they work harder. The hours of operation along with the horrible pay is comedy."

Branch Rental Manager says

"I worked at Hertz Cons: No work life balance,Bad pay,Management only care about numbers and when you produce there is no rewards and if your are BLACK your only advancement if you start out in branch is Branch is maybe branch manager or maybe very few are Area manager and if you do make it pass that then your a black women the only reason your got that spot was you were Black and a women which is a double bonus become your a double minority."

Current Employee - Rental Sales Associate says

"I have been working at Hertz full-time Cons: They advertise that you can make up to 100,000 a year yet 80% of their LAX employees make 10$ in hour and are not able to make any commission at all because of their unrealistic sales goals and co-workers. I've worked in other rental car companies before and was able to make commission easily. Extremely unhealthy environment. Sales agents hate each other and see nothing but competition in each other. Cherry picking the line and only helping certain customers (asian or someone who has expensive clothes or luggage) , they simply refuse to help any other customers that may not be getting anything additional. Managers refuse to change anything and just close their eyes. Very poor , unprofessional management. 90% of new people just walk out the door because it's absolutely impossible to work there"

RAC - Rental Agent Counter says

"I worked at Hertz Cons: I have $6.25 /h in my pocket after taxes and health insurance - before it's $9.25. Let's say, if someone reserves a Kia Rio for $250 for 2 weeks I have to try to sell him a much more expensive car, an insurance package for over $900 additional and gas for over 50 cent over the outside price per gallon. I have a problem to sell it, because for my feeling it is cheating. Me was told from managers, to tell stories to sell - you are going to Orlando? Oh, I was in Orlando last weekend. (the last visit was 10 years ago) If you don't have a problem to lie to your customers, you can make money; I can't. The number of co-workers, dropping out after short time, is extremely high. This slogan "We are a big family" reminds me, the difference between family and friends: you can choose your friends!"

Rental says

"I have been working at Hertz Cons: Very stressful environment, your dealing with people that are in line to get a car for like an hr, so there not the friendliest and most of the time very rude, not a job for everyone,"

Former Employee - Rental Representative says

"I worked at Hertz full-time for more than 3 years Cons: there is nothing good to say."

Branch Rental Manager says

"I worked at Hertz Cons: you have no support, they are just surviving because of their name but no goods cars, old management not aware of the reality they are here because they are on the business for a long time not because they are good, they don't pay decent salary and you have to work 60 hours/week."

Former Employee - Rental Management Liaison says

"I worked at Hertz full-time for more than a year Cons: Management is terrible.... there only nice towards the end of the year when it’s time for bonuses... and don’t get me started on their response to COVID"

Manager (Former Employee) says

"Everyone follows a directive no mater what your position. No free thinkers allowed. Employees are not empowered to think, you must only do what your told. Cons: You never know?"

CSR - Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says

"Most days there is very little inventory....managers hesitant to deal with irate customers so youre pretty much on your own. Most co workers were great to work with, they were the ones to support you. Lousy pay, decent working conditions. This is not a career position, more for temporary work until you find something better Cons: Lousy pay and work schedule"

Manager Assistant (Former Employee) says

"A typical day at work would consist of achieving to over charge a customer to add revenue. I have learned that as a worker, you will be underpaid for the work that you do. An employee would have to work all the roles within the company, while being paid close to minimum wage. Management only cares about the bonus that they will receive generated by your underpaid work hours. Work place culture is bad due to customers always complaining for over charged fees that the company wants to charge for additional revenue. Cons: Over worked - Under Paid, No moral ethics for the customers."

Management Trainee (Former Employee) says

"Management only cared about your co-workers who were bringing in additional money. If your hired at one location be prepared to change locations multiple times. Working 60 hours in a week forget about having a social life."

Manager (Former Employee) says

"This is a great place to work if your a student. You just have to get lucky enough to get a schedule to work around your schedule. If you can put up with the lack of structure, direction and lying, you should be fine. But if your looking for a place with this type of environment, you will defiantly see a lot of upward mobility in the company."

MA (Current Employee) says

"This company does nothing but try to make you fail. The reservation system doesn't handle customers right. So people can book for cars you don't have at all. This leads to horrible positions to be in when in front of a screaming customer. If you like to feel to be screamed at come here. Cons: The whole company."

Manager Trainee (Former Employee) says

"The job would be fun, if they had cars! I worked for an off airport location and we hardly had cars to fill our reservations. Let's say we had 7 reservations for the day and only 3 cars. That adds up to a lot of angry customers, a lot of yelling, and a lot of stress! We tried so hard to get cars, but other locations did not have the cars to spare. How can a car rental not have cars? Also, you have to make up fake prices for customers to get commission. If a customer goes into a location to price a car, instead of ording on online, you make up a price for them. Lets say the purchase price is 35 dollars per day, you then tell the customer a made up price, like 75 dollars per day. It was a horrible experience! Stay away from this employer! Cons: Cleaning vehicles while wearing business clothing, not enough cars to fill reservations, etc."

Counter Sales Representative (Former Employee) says

"Company will overbook and run out of vehicles. Find emote ways to limit your revenue incentives while the company earns more off of you so if you bring the company in 50,000 usd in revenue per month you will only receive 4-8 percent of that while the company reps the rest"

District Manager (Former Employee) says

"Terrible management! Terrible hours! Your job is threatened every 30 days! They change their bonus structure every quarter so that you don’t make any money. Cons: Everything else"

Utility Tech (Former Employee) says

"Not fair management, favortism, you can never do enough,no appreciation,no love ,no respect for all workers you are a human being not a slave increase work load but no increase pay rate etc. Cons: none"

Sales Representative (Former Employee) says

"It was an ok job. I don’t really recommend it to anyone. Unless you want to get worked like crazy. They don’t work with your schedule or anything so that’s that"

Branch Manager (Current Employee) says

"If you went to college to get hired to work for 12.50 ,with no help from management & to be at a location by yourself with no lunch breaks then you’ll definitely love it. Cons: No breaks, management sucks, company as a whole is a joke"

Management Trainee (Former Employee) says

"Culture was lacking. Constant backstabbing. Low pay. No work/life balance. High turnover. Only pro was I had a job to pay bills. I ended up quitting before getting a new job, which was in high cost of living California. So that tells you how much I enjoyed working there Cons: Everything else."

Customer Service Team Member (Former Employee) says

"Mgr threatened my job by saying he could be my best friend or worse enemy. Older 2nd shift employee was allowed to steal from coworkers and call us derogatory names without punishment. Mgrs cancelled reservations to get cars for themselves, especially during Toyota recall. Cons: No care from managers, low base pay, no real structure"

VSA (Former Employee) says

"Their probation period makes no sense at all it's all a setup to fail an employee. They need to change their whole system it's very glad if you are getting paid hourly it shouldn't matter how many cars you wash. Trying to wash 4 or more cars in an hour is highly impossible when you have a line of 15 or more employee's waiting in line for dirty cars and you are literally standing in line for 20 minutes to an hour ."

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) says

"If you don’t care about taking your breaks and or lunches and like to feel unappreciated, feel free to apply. They string you along with “Manager” opportunities. Youll end up busting your butt and then its “oops sorry”. You do the job of a manager with no compensation"

Full Service Representative (Former Employee) says

"Very cult like mentality by staff. Managment has their favorites. If they like you they will accommodate you. If they dont like you they will constantly complain about you. While I worked there most of the co workers was miserable with the exception of 1 person."

Management Trainee (Former Employee) says

"When I first got to hertz my manager left the company an month later. I was forced to run a whole branch by myself with little to no help for upper management. I had prior obligations that I needed to attend but hertz threatened that Id lose my job if I did not follow their specific hours which were open- close 6 days a week. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK"

Vechile service attendant (Former Employee) says

"Very bad company the work places are very nasty and uncomfortable you get in trouble for your sick days and personal days .They very unfare and very sneaky company not very good to employees they take advantage of you"

Transporter/Driver (Former Employee) says

"There is no organization and they break all the guidelines set forth by corporate. Drivers go over 20 miles per hour of the speed limit with other drivers in the vehicles. I felt very uncomfortable being in the vehicle. If you dont like cursing then dont go to this job and this is from management. I hope corporate reads this and investigates. I quit after being worked to many hours consistently in a one day period. 15 hours a day is way to much for a part time job."

ParkCity says

"Rented a car at Hertz in the Salt Lake City airport. As the car was in a coved garage it was nice a cool in the car. Two days intro the rental we parked in the sun and when we returned to vehicle we noticed the aroma of smoke of a natural herb in the car. Thought it was funny that you could only tell when car was warm. Retuned the car at 04:00 a.m and dropped the keys in drop box as there was no one there. Two weeks later got a bill $200 to clean the smoke. I Have been fighting with them for 7 months. finally gave in and paid it as they were threatening to put on our credit. They got me this time but never again. Horrible company. "

Kevin says

"I will NEVER rent from HERTZ again! They wanted to charge me an additional $1200 for a two day extension. I had to book a new reservation. I had to drive 50 miles to basically exchange vehicles. This is the most archaic business practice I\'ve encountered in a long time. This company should not even be in business. I will tell everyone I meet to not rent from this trash company!"

Leonard Lyles says

"I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH HERTZ GLOBAL RENT A CAR RECENTLY. I BEEN DOING BUSINESS WITH HERTZ SINCE 2009 & CURRENTLY. ALSO IM A FIVE STAR MEMBER AS WELL. DURING THE COVID -19 CRISIS, THE HERTZ RESERVATION DEPT AGENT HAD PLACED @ LEAST 7 "PROMOTIONAL COUPON" TOWARD MY RENTAL SINCE THE MONTH OF APRIL, 2020 & CURRENTLY, THAT ALWAYS GAVE ME A VERY LOW BALANCE TO PAY, THAT I WAS SO THANKFUL FOR,THAT I TOLD THESE RESERV/AGENT, WITHOUT USING MY POINTS. TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT THING, WHEN THEY APPLY PROMOTIONAL COUPONS, TOWARD YOUR RENTAL. I FOUND OUT DURING MY LAST 2 RENTALS IN JUNE,2020 AFTER RECIEVING 2 MORE "PROMOTIONAL COUPONS" FROM HERTZ AGENTS, FOR $140.72 & ANOTHER FOR $212.67 TOWARD 2 DIFFERENT RENTALS (WITHOUT USING MY AWARD POINTS) THE HERTZ RESERV/AGENT HAD TOOK WAY OVER 1500 POINTS OUT OF MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY NOTICE, WHEN SHE HAD APPLY THESE 2 DIFFERENT "PROMOTIONAL COUPONS," ON 2 DIFFERENT RENTALS. AFTER I SENT 2 E-MAIL TO THE HERTZ CUST/SERV & TALKED TWICE WITH THE HERTZ EXECUTIVE CARE DEPT, WITH A CASE NUMBER FOR MY COMPLAINTS. THERE WAS 3 LOYALTY DEPT AGENT REFUSED TO DO THEIR JOB, AFTER 1 AGENT HAD HUNG THE PHONE UP ON ME. THIS DISGUSTING PATHETIC HERTZ GLOBAL RENT A CAR HAD TURNED FROM "BAD TO WORSE" WHEN THIS "GREEDY" CORPORATIONS HAD STOLE & TOOK AWAY MY AWARD POINTS THAT I HAD EARNED. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS DECEPTIONS PRACTICES WITH NO INTEGRITY FOR THEIR 5 STAR MEMBER LOYAL CUSTOMER. HERTZ ALWAYS MENTIONED "THANK U FOR BEING A LOYAL 5 STAR MEMBER CUSTOMER, & FOR IS TO GIVE THEM "FEEDBACK"OF HOW THEY CAN SERVE BETTER THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS IS SO "HIPOCRITICAL & HIPOCRISY" CAUSE HERTZ PATTERNS BEHAVIOR, WHEN THEY ARE MISTREATING PEOPLE WITH SO MUCH DISRESPECT. I HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH HERTZ IN THE PAST ABOUT MISSING AWARD POINTS, & ABOUT 8 TIMES OUT OF 10 MY PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED TO MY SATISFACTION, EXCEPT THIS LAST INCIDENT OF THE MISTAKES & ERROR THAT HERTZ MADE, AS THE COMPANY EMPLOYEES IS IN "DENIAL" BY FAILING MISERABLY TO CORRECT THIS SIMPLE PROBLEM. MY PREVIOUS AWARD POINTS WAS 4,899. I CALCULATED THAT MY AWARD POINTS SHOULD BE @ LEAST 5,400 CAUSE 5 STAR MEMBERS GET AN EXTRA 25% BONUS POINTS, ALSO I DIDN'T RECIEVED MY OTHER ACCUMULATION POINTS DURING MY LAST 2 RENTAL IN JUNE, 2020. SOMEDAY, HERTZ GLOBAL WILL HAVE TO REAP THE EVIL SEEDS THEY HAD INTENTIONALLY DONE TO INNOCENT MEMBERS & CUSTOMERS, WITH THEIR ONGOING ARROGANT BEHAVIOR OF MISLEADING, DECEPTIONS, STEALING, WHILE TAKING FROM THEIR MEMBERS, OF THE BENEFITS THEY HAVE EARNED, FROM THEIR LOYAL MEMBERS, IT'S TOTALLY "WRONG" WHEN HERTZ CONTINUES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR MEMBERS & CUSTOMERS, IN ANYWAY THEY CAN FOR THEIR "SELFISH" GAIN. HERTZ GLOBAL EMPLOYEES NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!"

NATALIE Johnson says

"Booked through Expedia for the Shadeland location in Indiana the staff was terrible. I will never rent through Hertz I’ll stick with Enterprise!"

Mrs Hallam says

"Avoid the Miami downtown location that acts as the cruise facility drop off. Signeage is poor, chaotic in/out, inadequate staff and a facility in need of a serious upgrade. Allow plenty of time when dealing with this location."

Charlotte says

"Rude customer service who insist that you are not hiring a car when you pay for it only locking in a price that if there is a car available you can then have it, even though they insist on taking the money out your account and then dont provide the car hire. Frosty staff in-store that can't even acknowledge you or apologise for the problem insisting it is not their problem. Avoid at all costs."

Jennifer says

"Rented a car from Hertz in Dallas, showed up and they didn\'t have a car. Couldn\'t get one from another Hertz, said they would put me on a waitlist!! What good is that when you are sitting in the airport?? Didn\'t ever return my call or get me another car to rent! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!"
